October 23, 1910
Started from home where I left Rhoda and Mother both feeling blue at my leaving. ( I was not feeling any too good.) Antone and I arrived at Iron Springs at noon and ate lunch. At two p.m. Antone left me and started home. I left for Lund at 2:40 p.m. in company with Henry Watts and W.E. Dow. Arrived at Lund 7:08 p.m. Met Uncle Joe, Alex Pace, and James Taylor. Uncle Joe gave me $2.50 and Alex gave me $5.00. Ate at Root Hotel, left Lund at 8:10 p.m. for Salt Lake, took birth. Nothing of importance happened during night.
October 24, 1910 Monday
Arrived at Salt Lake 6:30 a.m. Took car to Albert Hotel , registered and went to breakfast 1 block south . Went up to the temple block to see the tabernacle. Ate supper same place.
October 25, 1910 Tuesday
Took breakfast same place at 7:30. At 9 a.m. met at Lion House and made arrangements for RR ticket for New York. After being examined by Dr. Symour B. Young, went to dinner. At 2 p.m. met at annex of temple and was set apart to Eastern States Mission and received some very good counsel from apostle present.
October 26, 1910 Wednesday
Left Sale Lake 3:20 p.m. for New York. Arrived in Ogden at 6 p.m. Met Elder brown and he and I took birth and slept good until 2 a.m. and it became so cold we could sleep no longer. At 3 a.m. we got up and went in chair car , where we rode till morning. Took breakfast on cars, grub we had with us.
October 27, 1910 Thursday
Rode on cars all day. Arrived in Cheyenne at 2:30 p.m. Changed cars and left Cheyenne at 2:45 p.m. for Omaha. Took supper out of basket again Rode all night in chair car. When we could not sleep, we would sing, to kill time.
October 28, 1910
Took breakfast from same old baskets. Arrived at Omaha 9:20 a.m., where we was met by a guide who took us uptown to a car which we took to Winter Quarters. A half hour ride. Here we saw the old home and big cottonwood tree planted by P. Young. Visited cemetery where many saints were buried. Took car back to Omaha at 1:30 p.m. Looked over city for a while. Got a shave and supper. Left at 5:20 p.m. same day.
October 29, 1910 Saturday
Rode all night in chair car. Being very tired slept pretty good. Took breakfast on car from baskets. Arrived in Chicago 10:00 a.m. Checked grips at ticket office and changed tickets. At 11:00 a.m. took car to Jackson Park and Museum. At museum saw mummies of old Egyptian bodies, and mounted skeletons of all known animals. Was on shore of Lake Michigan. Went back to town. Saw Montgomery Ward-Company building. Left Chicago 9:45 p.m. Rode all night in chair car.
October 30, 1910 Sunday
Took breakfast in Cleveland where we arrived at 9:35 a.m. Took car to Willouby, a distance of 20 miles. Took hack at Willouby to Kirtland, a distance of four miles. While there we visited Kirtland Temple. Was all thru Temple, up in pulpits and up in the tower. Saw the old Smith house where the Prophet lived and lot Brigham Young owned. Went back to Willouby. Took car back to Cleveland and stayed all night at Hawley Hotel.
October 31, 1910 Monday
Took breakfast in Cleveland. Took car to depot. Left at 8:36 a.m. Had a pleasant journey. Arrived in Buffalo 4:05 p.m., where we were met by Ben H. Tynell, a RR guide who went with us to restaurant. Had supper and checked our grips. Took car to Niagara Falls at 4:45 p.m. Arrived at 5:35 p.m. Started to see falls. Went about two blocks when our guide took a pain in his back. Some of the boys went for a cab. He died. Myself, Elders Hanks and Hill were the only ones with him. After he was taken to Undertakers Parlor, we went to the Imperial Hotel and stayed over night.
November 1, 1910 Tuesday
Arose early and went to see the falls. Went over the bridge to Canada. Came back to town. Left 7:37 a.m. for Buffalo where we arrived at 8:25 a.m. Had breakfast and left at 9:10 a.m. for New York. Had a very pleasant journey. Arrived at 8:20 p.m. was met by Bro Wetsel who went with us to Mission Headquarters, where we met Bro Rich. Got a room at 106 W 128th St. I and Elder Hill roomed together.
November 2, 1910 Wednesday
Took breakfast on 125th St., after which we met at office 33 W 126th St. N.Y., where we received instructions from Pres Rich and were assigned to our fields of labor. Elder Brown to N.Y. conference. Elder Wood and Lenville to Maryland, Elder Hill to South West Vir., Elder Hanks to Vermont, Elder Thurgood to New Hampshire, Elder Smith to New England. Myself and Elder Baldwin to West Pen. We were all called on to say how we felt in regards to our mission. At 1 p.m. went to Hippodrome Theatre, one of the largest in the world. Were there until 6 p.m. Took supper at 125th St. Restaurant.

Took breakfast at same restaurant as previous day at 9 a.m. Elder took us out to the aquarium and saw the fish. There were most all kinds of sea fish. Then took steam boat for Liberty Island to see the Statue of Liberty. Went up in the head which has a capacity for forty persons to do it at once. Then went back on Wall St. Visited house where Gen Washington was appointed General of the American Army and also New York Exchange Building.
November 4, 1910 Friday
After breakfast at same old place, took elevated car on 125th St. to Bronx Park, a natural park containing most all kinds of beasts, birds and reptiles. While there it was raining so spent most of out time in buildings looking at animals. Took supper at same restaurant.
November 5, 1910 Saturday
Took car on 125th going east. Went to Queens Boro Bridge, the largest bridge in the world. We were one hour walking over it and seeing sights on bridge. Blackwells Island is about midway of the bridge and on this island we saw the convicts of the city of N.Y. This island being where the State Prison is at. Went then on over the bridge to city of Brooklyn. Walked south for several blocks, then took car back to N.Y. over Brooklyn Bridge. Visited Singer Building and Metropolitan the two highest buildings in the world. Then took Subway car to 125th street.
November 6, 1910 Sunday
Fast Day held a Priesthood Meeting at hall on 125th Street at 10 a.m. and at 1:30 p.m. held Sunday School. Bro Longton of Logan, Utah, secretary of Eastern States Mission lectured on the Bible. Meeting was held at 3 p.m. being fast meeting. The meeting was turned over to the members to bare testimony. Bro Easton sang "Oh My Father" and two other songs. Meeting closed at 5 p.m. Went to restaurant and had supper. Met at 8 p.m. same hall for night meeting. Closed at 9:30 p.m.
November 7, 1910 Monday
After breakfast came back to office at 33 West 126th Street and got our mail. Then went to 106 W, 128th Street and wrote letters to folks at home and studied. Bid Elders Lowell, Wood, Hanks and Thurgood farewell, they being the first of our party to leave to fields of labor. Took supper at 6 p.m. same old place.
November 8, 1910 Tuesday
Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Called at office and got mail and made arrangements for ticket to West Pen. Helped Elder Hill off on cars for West Virginia. At 10 a.m. came back and bid Elder Smith farewell, then packed my grip. Had lunch at 1 p.m. Went to Vaudeville Show at 1:30 p.m. and stayed until 4:15 p.m. Went to our room. Elder Baldwin and myself got our grips and went to post office. At 6:30 p.m. left for train . Elder Baldwin, Sister Nelson and myself. Elder Snow went with us to Jersey City. Had a nice night ride on chair car. Arrived at Pittsburgh, all OK.
November 9, 1910 Wednesday
Arrived in Pittsburgh 9:25 a.m. Stayed at depot until 10:20 to help Miss Nelson on the car for Little Washington, where her mother lives. We then caught car for Allegheny. Arrived at
Conference Headquarters at 11:10 a.m. 1361 James Street. Wrote a letter home, then went down to the Market Restaurant and had dinner. After which we came back to office and met Pres. Clark and Elder Stanger. Elder Baldwin went with Pres Clark and I with Elder Stanger. AT 7:30 p.m. held a college meeting at Bro and Sister Newcombers. Elder Stanger took charge. I was called to talk, which was my first experience in a meeting. I met that night: Bro and Sister Newcomer, Bro and Sister Costle and Sister Marks.
November 10, 1910 Thursday
Arose late, took a bath, went to Duquesne and had breakfast. Came back and studied forenoon. Met Elders Jensen and Wilcken at 1 p.m. Went through Heinz Pickle Factory. Took supper at Market. 7:30 p.m meeting at Bro Marks. I was to talk again. Bro Clark took charge. After meeting, Elder Wilcken and I got rooms at 1303 James Street.

Took breakfast at Clark's Restaurant. Went to office and got mail. Then went out tracting with Elder Wilcken, my first experience of that kind. Took lunch at Library R. then studied until 4 p.m.. Met at office for class meeting, studying the Great Apostasy at 7:30 p.m. Held meeting at Bro and Sister Costles. I was called to bare testimony.

Breakfast at market and then studied until noon. Dinner at Duqesne at 2 p.m. Class meeting at 3 p.m. Supper of bread and milk at office.

Sunday, Elders Clark, Wilcken, Baldwin and I fasted. Took car at 8:15 a.m. for New England. Arrived at 10 a.m. and held Sunday School. I was called to talk. At noon, Pres Clark and I went to Bro Davis' for dinner. Held meeting at 1 p.m. We all bore testimony. Closed at 3 p.m . Went to Bro Bamses to see him then went to Bro Davis' for lunch. Came back to Allegheny and held Sunday School at 6:30 p.m. AT 7:30 p.m meeting commenced. President Clark presiding. I was called to speak again.

After breakfast, spent forenoon studying. After dinner went tracting from 2 p.m until 3:30 p.m. Had door slammed in my face twice the first two places I tried, but managed to give out five. Met at office at 4 p.m for class meeting.

Had breakfast, then went tracking with Elder Wilcken. Gave out one tract. Had lunch at market, then studied at room until 4 p.m., then held class meeting at office. Then went to Sister Rhemihans to hold Bible Class at 7:30, Elder Stanger taking charge. Had supper while out there.
November 16, 1910 Wednesday
Breakfast at Dequese. Came back to room to get ready and went out tracting. Gave away ten tracts and two Liahonas. Had lunch at Library and studied until 4 p.m. then held class meeting at office. Held cottage at Bro. Costles at 7:30 p.m. I was asked to speak, which I tried to do.
November 17, 1910 Thursday
Breakfast at Duquesne. Tracted forenoon, then had lunch. Went to Library and studied until 4:00 p.m. then held class meeting. After class we went to Elder Newcomers and held cottage meeting. Met a Seventh Day Adventist Minister. He and Bro. Clark had a long argument.
November 18, 1910 Friday
Had breakfast at Dequese with Elder Stanger, Neufer, Richards and Morris. Afterwards went to Carnegy Museum to see sights. Saw some mounted skeletons and paintings. Also a few gold nuggets. Came back at 2:30 p.m. and went to matinee at Gayett. Came back to office and met Elders Boss and Maughn who had just came from Jefferson Co. to conference. Had no class meeting.
November 19, 1910 Saturday
Had breakfast at market, then went to Heinz Pickle Factory with Elders Neufer, Richards and Maughn. At 2:30 p.m., Neufer, Richards and I went to matinee. Had supper at market.
November 20, 1910 Sunday
A very nice morning. Had a shave and bath, then had breakfast at library, then went to hall at 125 W Diamond St., where we held conference. Meeting was called to order at 10:00 a.m. Pres. Clark taking charge. Pres. Rich presented the names of the church authorities who were all sustained. He then presented the names of the presidency of the mission who were all sustained, one hand opposed Pres. Clark. Meeting closed at 11:45 a.m. Then we had lunch which was brought by the saints and served between meetings. At 2 p.m. we held another meeting. Elders Stanger, Neufer, Birch and Clark were the first speakers. Pres. Rich took up remainder of time. Bro. Brown bore testimony, Pres. Rich dismissed. Priesthood Meeting was held at 7:00 p.m. where we received some very good messages from Pres. Rich. We were then all asked to talk and say how we felt.
November 21, 1910 Monday
Elder Wilcken and I had breakfast Duquesne. Then went to S side Pittsburg where we met eighteen other Elders. We all had photo taken together. At 2:30 p.m Elder Stanger and I went to matinee. At 7:00 p.m had sociable at G.A.R. Hall. Music, reciting and songs by saints and Elders. Then had sandwich and apple and bananas.
November 22, 1910 Tuesday
Breakfast at Duquesne. Elders Stanger, Mortensen, Lee, Nelson, Richards, Morris, Cook, hammon, Neifer and Boss all left for their different cities of labor for the winter. Held cottage meeting at Sister Rinehart's. I was called to bare testimony. After meeting, came back to Allegheny.

One month since I left home. Had breakfast at Duquesne, then helped Elders Wilcken and Maughn to McKeesport . Car they bought for McKeesport for the winter. Had lunch at Market and then went thru Heinz Pickle Factory with Elders Brown and Bailey. Held cottage meeting at Bro.Costles at 7:30 p.m. I offered Ben prayer.

A nice morning. Took breakfast at Library Lunch Restaurant. Came back to office and got mail. Recieved a nice cake from home. Ate a large piece for dinner. Wrote a letter home and then studied until four p.m., then went to Bro Costel's for Thanksgiving dinner. Met at Bro. Neucomers at 7:30 p.m. for meeting. I opened meeting.
November 25, 1910 Friday
Went with Elder Brown to Market for breakfast. Came to 1311 J.S. and got mail and then went to 1212 Esplanda St. with Bro. Brown, left at 11 a.m. for R.R. Station. Took car for Ambrige. Elders Clark, Brown and I meet Elders Bailey and Baldwin. Held a nice meeting there at 8:30 p.m. We were all called to speak. Stayed at Sister Geitze's over night. Had supper there at her restaurant.

Slept with Elder Clark. Arose at 8 a.m. and had breakfast. Had a nice talk with Sister Geitz. Took car for Allegheny at 10 a.m. Arrived at 11 a.m. Went to office and got mail, then went to library to study. Stayed and studied for two hours and then went to lunch. Went to Bro. Costle's and pressed my clothes. Bread and milk for supper with Elder Baldwin and I. Sister Costel gave us half a pie.

Brother Bailey and I ate breakfast at Duquesne at 11 a.m. Then took car for New England. Arrived at 1 p.m and went to meeting. Bro. Brown was main speaker, but Brother Baldwin and I were called to speak. After meeting, went to Bro. Davis' and had lunch, then left for Allegheny. Held S.S. at 6:30 p.m held meeting at 7:30 p.m. I was called to speak.

Had breakfast at market. Came and got mail. Had dinner same place. Helped Pres. Clark carry trunk from 1212 to office. Elder Brown and Jensen went to New Castle. Had supper at office. bread and milk and Bro. Birche's cake he just received from home.

Arose at 7 a.m. Had bath, then went to Duquesne for breakfast. Studied forenoon. Went to Library Lunch Room for dinner. Went to Sister Rinehart's and held cottage meeting. I dismissed.

Had a bath, then breakfast at Duquesne. Studied at 1311 James Street until 2 p.m. Then went over river to South Side Pittsburg. Took motor car to Wilsen. Had supper at Bro. Smith's. Held cottage meeting at 7:45 p.m. Elders' Clark, Brown, Maughn and myself being present. There were 23 in all at the meeting. We were all called to talk after meeting. Bro. Smith and his daughters sang songs. We then had a nice lunch of ham sandwiches, cake, apples and bananas. Elders' Wilken, Maughn and I went to Sister Agness Volkels to sleep.
December 1, 1910 Thursday
Cold and snowing. Had breakfast at Sister Agness Volkels. Then we went through Monogahela Tube Works at Wilson. Left Wilson at 10:39 a.m. for Monongahela City on cars. Left train at Depot and walked to Bro. William McDonalds and had lunch at 2 p.m. We then went thru the Glass Factory. Elder Clark, Brown and I, went back to McDonald's and had supper at 6 p.m. Had cottage meeting at 7:30 p.m. Met Brothers' Smith,Gutis and Sister Howe. We were all called to talk at 9:30 p.m. adjourned. Went to car with Sister Howe to help her on car. Slept alone on cot and nearly froze.
December 2, 1910 Friday
Arose at 8:30 a.m. Had breakfast at 9:45 a.m. We then concentrated bottle of oil for Sister McDonald. We then started to Sister Howe's, about two miles. Had a nice talk with her and dinner at 1:15 p.m. Then took street car to Charlesoi. Stayed at depot one hour. I read Book of Mormon. Took train hire for California. Went to Arligton Hotel, then went over to Bro. George Gales. Pres. Clark and I had supper, went back to hotel and met Elders' Lee and Nelson. Then went to hall and helt meeting at 7:30 p.m. I helped bless a baby for Sister Voughn. Was called to speak. Elders Clark, Brown and I slept at Arlington Hotel controlled by Bro. Geo. Gales.
December 3, 1910 Saturday
Arose at 7:30 a.m. and had breakfast at Arlington Hotel. Left California at 10:03 a.m. and went to Charleroi with Elder Nelson. Bro. Clark went to Alleghen. Elders Brown and Lee went to Sister Akins, Br. Nelson took bath, then he and I took car to Finleyville. Then walked about one mile to Sister Eda. B. Akins. Ate dinner at 2 p.m, studied for half hour, then picked chickens and made a couple of pies. Helt a cottage meeting at 7:30 p.m Elder Brown presiding and spoke. First I was called to speak and also dismissed. Had a nice supper after meeting. Retired at 12:40 a.m. with Bro. Brown.

Snowing a little. Elder Brown and I fasted. Left Sister Akins at 9:05 a.m. Arrived in Pittsburg 11:45 a.m. Ate dinner at Market at 4:45 p.m. Went to YAR Hall at 6:30 p.m. and helt S School. I dismissed. Helt meeting at 7:45 p.m. I bore testimony. Closed at 9:15 p.m.
December 5, 1910 Monday
Had bath then went to Duquense for breakfast. Came back to the office and read a letter from Rhoda and one from mother. Studied until 12 a.m. Had bowl of chicken soup at Duquense. Then went through Carnegie Street Works. Came back by Duquense at 4 p.m and had supper with Bro. Brown. Came up to office and wrote a letter to my little wife.
December 6, 1910 Tuesday
Had bath, paid $1 rent, got the mail and then went to Duquense for breakfast. Came back to CArnegie Library and studied Articles of Faith by Dr. James E. Talmage. Then wrote letter to grandparents. Went up to Bro. Newcomers and had supper at 4:30 p.m. Stayed with them until 9:15 p.m. Came to office, then went to Library Lunch Room and got four egg sandwiches, two for Elder Birch and two for myself.
December 7 1910 Wednesday
Had a cold bath then went to Duquense and had breakfast. Came back to office and got tracts. Then went tracting for an hour and one half. Came up to office. Bro. Clark and Bailey went to Renfrew to funeral of Sister Ailehouse. Had lunch at Library at 6:30 p.m. Bro. Jensen and I helt cottage meeting at Bro. Costles at 7:30 p.m Had dish of ice cream on James Street. I bore testimony and dismissed.

Arose early and had bath, then got mail, a letter from Rhoda and babies. Went to Clark Resturant and had breakfast. Came baci to office and sent tract and Liahona home. Then wrote in journal until 1 p.m. Then wrote letter home. Then went tracting. Gave 16 tracts. Had one turn down. Had lunch at Library Restruant. Elder Birch and Clark returned from Renfrew. Brought the large picture of Elders from Pittsburg as they came. We all went to Elder Newcomers and helt a cottage meeting. I was called to speak. On way back to office, got some grahm crackers for lunch.

Had breakfast at Duquense, then went tracting. Gave out sixteen tracts and five Liahonas. Sold one book, The Great Apostesy. Came to office at 12 a.m. and studied until 2 p.m., then went to Library and had lunch. Went tracting again. Gave twenty tracts and one Liahohona out. Had bread and milk at office for supper. Studied until 7:30 p.m., then helt Mutual. I opened and lectured on (Wileties and Welth.)

Had cold bath, then got mail and went to Duquense for breakfast. Went over the 6th Street Bridge to Pittsburg. Bought toothbrush and post cards to send home for Christmas. Came up to office and studied until 2 p.m. Then went to Library to lunch, then to Depot with Elders. Bro. Jensen and Birch went to Ambrige. Elder Clark and I went to Boggs and Buhl, then to Library and studied one hour. Went to office and had bread and milk, then studied until 9:30, then went to bed.

Left New England after meeting and came to Allegheny, arriving at 10:15 p.m.

Had a nice cold bath and got mail. Read a letter from Rhoda stating her sister was very sich. Either spinal menangites or brain fever. Dr. Gave them no hopes. Then went to Dequense and had breakfast. Went to Library and studied until 2:30 p.m. Then took tract to No. 400. Came to office and wrote a letter to Rhoda. Went to Boggs and Buhl and got Rhoda coat, Antone suit, and Reed and Lyle both a little suit. Went to Kenyon Theatre that evening.

Breakfast at Dequense, then had my overcoat soued up. Got a letter from Ma, then went tracting for one hour. Studied at Library for two hours. Went revisiting. Helt class at 4 p.m. Then Elder Birch and I went to Glenwood and helt Bible Class. Also had a very nice supper at Sister Rhineharts.

Had cold bath and got mail. Went to Dequense and had breakfast. Then went to printing office and got cordboard and sent photo home. ALso a tie to Laurence, Antone and Reese. Had lunch at Library, then went tracting. GAve out ten tracts. Helt class at 4:30 p.m. Helt meeting at Bro. Costles at 7:45 p.m. Took charge. My first experience also preached and dismissed.

Had bath, got mail, read letter from home. Got $20 from Rhoda. Had breakfast at Dequense. Went tracting, gave out 16 tracts. Got some toys to send to little boys and girls. Had lunch at Library. Tracted again, gave out eleven tracts, then studied at Library till four o'clock, then helt class. At 8:30 helt Mutual. Lectured and dismissed. Had bread and milk for lunch.

Had bath, made out report of weeks labor. Then got mail. Recieved card from Elder Hill. Card from Neta. Letter from Rhoda and Ma. Had breakfast at Dequense. Went to store on Ohio Street and got cards to send out for christmas. Sent out twenty. Had dinner at Library. Came to office and studied for one hour, then wrote diary in this book from little one.Went to Sister Lighthorts and visited during evening.

Had breakfast at Dequense. Went to library and studied until 1:30 p.m. Then wrote some cards. Went to Library Lunch Room and had lunch. Then went over to Pittsburg and bot some toys. Sent on to Reed, Lyle and Rhoda (Ha Ha). Went to Bro Costles to wrap and address them at 7:30 p.m Elder Birch and I went to Gaiety.

Two months today since I left home and my thots are with the dear ones at home. Helt class at 6 a.m., shaved then studied manuel until 10:30 a.m. Got mail, then went to Dequense and had breakfast, studied at Library, had lunch at LIbrary lunch counter. Went to office and studied manuel until 7 p.m., then had Mutual . I lectured.

Helt class at 8 a.m., then went to Dequense and had breakfast. Went to office and got mail. Studied until 1 p.m., then went to stove store and got account book and book of poems to send Grandma. At 6 p.m. visited Sister Shindle. Took mail to the post office to send to Elders, then went to Kenyon Theatre.

Had a bath and shave. Went to office and got mail. Recieved a letter from Ma containing $5.00 and one from her and four from Antone. Christmas present had breakfast at Dequense, then went to Glenwood and had Christmas dinner with Sister Rhinehart at 1 p.m. and lunch at 4 p.m. Came to Allegheny and had Sunday School at 6:30 p.m. Took minutes and dismissed. Helt meeting at 7:40 p.m. Opened and talked. Went to Sister Kirks and had lunch at 11:p.m., spent the evening there, left Allegheny at 12 p.m. for Ambrige in company with Elder Clark and Sister Gietz. Stayed at the American House.

Had breakfast at 8:30 a.m.. Killed a chicken for Sister Gietz, then washed dishes and wrote diary. Had dinner at 1 p.m. Washed the dishes then listened to Pres. Clark and Sister Gietz sing songs. At 6:30 p.m. had supper. Washed the dishes and ate candy and talked until 10 p.m.

Had breakfast at 7:45 a.m. with sister Gietz, then left Cambrige for Allegheny. Arrived at 9:30 a.m. Came to office and got mail. Recieved two cakes. One check in three letters. One letter from Ma, one from Rhoda and one from Uncle Jake and Aunt Mary containing one dollar Xmas present. Had shingle and shave, then visited Sister Redinger and Sister Rinehart. Then phoned to Sister Linehart to tell her we could not come out to hold meeting. Wrote letter to Ma and Rhoda, then went to post office with them. Elders Jensen and Birch got back from Butler County.

Talked until 12 p.m. Then eat old year out and new year in, talked then until 2 a.m. in the morning of Jan 1, 1911.

Arose at 9:30 a.m. It being fast day we had no breakfast. I talked with Sister Gietz and helped her get dinner. Had nice New Year and Birthday Dinner. At 1 p.m. studied Doc. and Cov. for hour and half. Had lunch at 5 p.m. Then left Cambrige for Allegheny. Had Sunday School at 6:45 p.m. and Meeting at 7:30 p.m. Helped administer Sacrament and bore testimony.

Wilken, Maughn and I went to Bro Costills, then to Pittsburg and went to Lyclum Theater, they went to Mckeesport and I came to office.

Came to office and wrote to my little girlie, then studied apostesy for a while, then went to office with mail. Went to Nickelodean while downtown. Had bread and milk supper.

Had cold bath, then went to Dequense and had breakfast. Then went to store and got rubber heels to put on shoes. Came to office and put them on. Wrote up diary tracts for a couple of hours. Then helt a cottage meeting at Bro Costills at 8 p.m I took charge of the meeting after which we went to Kenyon Theatre.

We helt a Priesthood meeting at Br. Barnes at 6 p.m. After meeting, went to Bro Davis' and had lunch. Also slept there with Elder Wilcken.

Went to meeting at 1 p.m., bore testimony, had lunch after meeting at Bro. Davis'. Elder Lee and I stayed at New England for Mutual which was helt at 6 p.m. Slept at Bro. Davis'.

Arose at 8:30 and had breakfast with Elder Lee. At 9:30 a.m. , Elder Maughn and Wilcken came over from Bro. Bamses. We all left then for Allegheny. Went to fice cent show in Pittsburg. Came to office and got mail. Had shave and went to Kenyon Theater. Had lunch at Library Lunch Counter. Wroter a letter to my wife. Then went to Bro. Costills and had a farewell party for Elder Nelson. Had an enjoyable time.

Then went to Elder Newcoomers to hold meeting. After meeting, Elder Lee and I went to Cambrige with Sister Gietz. Stayed in Cambrige overnight. Went to bed at 3 a.m.

Slept until 11 a.m., then had bath and breakfast. Then washed dishes. Then studied and talked. Had supper at 6:30 p.m Then left for Allegheny. Arrived at 8 p.m. I then helped Charles Gietz carry suit case to Depot and see him off for Arizona. Came to office and slept with Elder Nelson.

Arose early and wrote song on typewritter. Then went to Dequesne to breakfast. then came back to office and studied. At 12:30 a.m. went to Pittsburg to see Elder Nelson off on cars for home. Had dinner at Chold's Restruant. Came to office and studied. Helt class in Manuel at 5:00 p.m. Then Elder Birch, Lee and I went to Sister Kirk's to spend the evening.

Had bath and shave, then went to Dequense and had breakfast. Then went to 1215 Brighten St. to funeral of Thomas Schull. Also went to cemetary. We then came to office and got mail. Recieved three letters and one card. Studied half hour, then went to Dequense and had dinner. Went to Library and got Elder Wm O. Clark, then he, Elder Lee and I went to Heinz Pickle Factory. Came to office and had Priesthood Meeting. I was transfered from office to Cory, Erie, Co., Pa. To leave Friday, June 20th, 1911. then Elder Lee and I had lunch at Library. Studied for half hour then went to Kenyon Theatre. Had nice time.

Had breakfast at Library, then studied for one hour. Came to office and got letter from Rhoda. Then wrote letter to Uncle Joe. Had dinner at Library. Went and showed Elder Lee where I had tracted, then went to Pittsburg and got photos. Came to office and wrote journal, then went to Library Lunch for supper. Back to office and studied.

Arose and had shave, then went to breakfast at Library Lunch Counter. Came to office and studied. Had lunch same place as breakfast. Then went tracting. Had class at 4 p.m. Also had meeting at Bro. Costills at 8 p.m. I took charge. Elders Birch, Jensen and Bro Costill were the speakers. I dismissed. Had a sandwich for supper.

Took breakfast at Library, then went to office and got mail. Elder Lee and I then went to Bro. Costills to press our clothes. I went to Bogg and Buhl and bought a pair of trousers, then went uptown and bought two shirts. Came to office and went tracting. Had class at 4:30 p.m Then Elder Birch and I went to Bro. Newcomers to see how Sister Newcomer was and administered to her. Came to office at 9 p.m and retired at 9:30 p.m.

Had cold bath, then went to Library Restruant for breakfast. Then went to see Sister Kirk. then to Boggs and Bulh and got my pants. Went to room and bound up grips. Then told Elder Birch goodbye. Then Elders Lee and Jensen helped me to train in Pittsburg, where I left at 11 a.m. for Corry, where I was to meet and labor with Elder Thomas Cook. Had a very plesant trip and arrived at 6:04 p.m. Took street car up town where I met Elder Cook waiting for me at depot. We went to room at 221 West Wayne Street. Had supper at 6 p.m.

Aose at 7:30 a.m. had breakfastat 8:00 a.m. , then went to Depot to get grip and books. I then shaved and went to lunch counter and had ham sandwich. We then went to Mrs. Fales to administer to her. Came back to room at 4 p.m. We then got ready and left for Brother Bennett's at 4:45 p.m. a distance of seven miles. We walked the distance in two hours, arriving at 6:45 p.m. We had a very nice time and supper at 7:15 p.m. We talked until 11 p.m., then retired.

Arose at 8 a.m. and had breakfast, spent the day talking to Brother and Sister Bennett and Alice. Had dinner at 3 p.m. I then carried in the night wood. At 7:30 p.m. we helt a cottage meeting. Elder Cook spoke first, then myself , Sister Bennett, Brother Bennett, and Alice, Brother Cook dismissed. We then talked until 11:15 p.m. then retired.

Three months today since I left home. A very nice warm day, had breakfast at Brother Bennetts. We then left for Corry, arriving at our room, 221 West Wayne St. at 12:30 a.m. Had shave, then went out tracting. Met a little Jew the first place I tried and was turned down. Had good luck, remainder of time. I tracted, had some nice conversations, came to rooom and wrote letteres to Rhoda. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Went to the office with mail, then retired.

Arose at 7:30 a.m. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Talked with Mr. Yound for one hour on religion. Went out tracting for two hours. Came to room and studied. Had nap. Wrote to Ma, Clara and R.H. Peal and Co. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Talked for half hour with Mr. and Mrs Yound. Then went to office and got mail. Recieved a letter from Rhoda telling of the death of her sister. Also one from grandma, then wrote diary and studied.

Arose at 7:30 a.m. Washed and had breakfast at 8:00 a.m. Came up to room and studied , then went out tracting. Came to room and ate pie. Then wrote journal. Elder Cook and I then went to the Corry Hospital to see Mr. Palmer, a friend, who was there with a broken leg. We then came to room and studied. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Then went to office with mail, then to nickelodean.

A very cloudy day and sprinkling a little. Had breakfast at 8:00 a.m., then shaved and studied. Went out tracting at 10:00 a.m. Bot pie for lunch. Went to office with mail, then to visit Sister Fales. Came to room and studied. Had supper at 6:30 p.m Talked until nine, then studied Bible for one hour. Had a cold bath and retired.

Had breakfaast at 8:00 a.m. Raining hard. studied until noon, then had pie for lunch. Went to visit Mrs. Shafer. Talked with her for couple of hours. Went to laundry and got Bro. Clark's laundry. Came to room and studied,then wrote to Mrs. Kirk and sister Geitz. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Studied until 10:00 p.m. Had bath.

Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Then got mail, recieved a letter from Rhoda, one from mother and one from Laurence. Then wrote to Rhoda. Went to store and bot needles and thread and some apples. Went to office with mail. Came to room and had apple lunch. Got reports ready to send off. Wrote letter to office for money. Wrote up diary. Had shave, then supper at 6:30 p.m. Studied until 10:00 p.m.

It being Sunday morning, did not have breakfast until 8:30, then wrote a letter to Albert F. Mathis. Then went to Baptist meeting. Had dinner at Palm Restruant. Came to room and studied, Went to office with mail. Had supper at 6 p.m Then talked until 9:15 p.m. on religion with boarders. Came up to room and studied. Retired at 11 p.m.

Arose at 7:30 a.m. Had breakfast at 8. Recieved letter from Elder Birch, then studied. At 10:15 went to tailor shop and had overcoat sowed up. Had talk on religion with him. Also gave him a tract. Arose at 7:30 a.m. and got ready for breakfast, which we partook of at 8. Recieved a letter from Rhoda stating that they were all well. I then wrote up journal and went out tracting. Had talk on poligamy . Came to room and studied. At 3 p.m. had lunch at Palm Restruant. Then went tracting, then studied. At 6:30 p.m. had supper. Thad class from history.

Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Wrote letter to Elder Birch and one to grandma. Elder Cook and I then went to visit Dr. Beeby. Had short talk with him, then went to bakery and bot cake for lunch. Wrote to mother, then studied. At 6:30 p.m. had supper, went to office, then to nickleodean. Came to room and studied.

Arose early, then wrote reports. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. I then wrote to Eastern States Mission, while Elder Cook wrote to West Penn.Con. We then took them to the office, then took
the (ankle express) for West Spring Crick, arriving at Bro. Bennetts at 12:25 a.m. Had nice dinner, then talked until 6 p.m, then had supper. We talked again until 11 p.m., then retired.
February 5, 1911 Sunday
Fast Sunday, arose at 8:30 a.m. We helt meeting at 10. We all bore testimony. I dismissed. Had dinner at 1 p.m. at 2 p.m. Elder Cook, Richards and myself went to Mrs. Manleys to visit her. She is a daughter of Bro. Bennetts. She and Alice gave us some very nice music on the violin and piano. Had some maple candy. Left at 5 p.m. for Bro. Bennetts, a distance of one and one half miles. Had supper at 6 p.m. Talked and sang until 10:00 p.m.
February 6, 1911 Monday
Snowing hard. Had breakfast at 8:30 a.m., then studied and sang songs. At 11 a.m., Elders Morris and Cook went to visit Mr. Palmer. I and Elder Richards stayed at Br. Bennetts. Had dinner at 2 p.m. Elder Richards washed dishes and I wiped them. Elders Cook and Morris returned at three. It is still snowing hard so Bro Morris went to school house after Alice in buggie. We studied and talked until 10 p.m.
February 7, 1911 Tuesday
Awoke with hard pain in stomach. Drank cup of hot water. Eat a small hot cake for breakfast at 9 a.m. Elder Cook and I left for Corry on Ankle Express. After walking three miles, we over took a family going to Corry with milk. After asking him for a ride, we were invited to climb in. We road with him to the out edge of town, then got so cold we had to walk to keep from freezing. We came to room and found letters awaiting me from Elder Nelson, Frank Kelsey, Mother, and one from my little girl and baby boys. Also a letter from Pres, Clark who was at Era broke. We sent him two dollars to come to Corry with. I then felt so weak I went to bed and slept one hour, then felt better. Wrote to Rhoda. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Went to office with mail, then studied until bedtime.

Arose at 7:30 a.m. Had breakfast at 8. Recieved letter from Eliza Kelsey and one from Rhoda. Wrote to Mother. Studied for one hour, then went to office to take letter, then tracted for one hour. Came to room and met Elders Heber D and Wm. O. Clarks. Had talk with them and then had supper at 6:30 p.m. Elder Cook and I went to see Mrs. Shafer. Came to room and sang songs, then retired. Cook and I slept in the Bowers bed and the Clarks in ours.

Arose early and had bath. Got ready for breakfast at 8 a.m. Went to Depot to see Elders Cook and off for Buffalo, Niagra Falls and Hill Comorah. Then went out tracting for two hours. Came to room and wrote to Rhoda. Had pie for dinner. We then went out to Mrs. Fales to see how she felt. Sang some songs for her. Came to town, went to store and bot album and some postcards, then wrote letter to sister Rhinehart. Had supper at 6:30 p.m Came up to room and wrote to Frank Kelsey, then studied.

Snowed hard all day. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Studied until 1 p.m., then went to bakery and got cake for lunch. Wrote to Clara. Had shave. Sent Liahones album and Viavi home. HAd supper at 6:30 p.m. Talked and sang songs until bedtime.

Had bath, then breakfast at usual time. Wrote letter to mission headquarters. Sent off reports. Took mail to office. Left for Brother Bennetts at 10:15. The snow was deep and drifted in places so we could hardly walk. We arrived just in time for dinner. After which we sawed wood for three hours. Elders Morris and Richards came about 5:30 p.m. Had supper at 6 p.m. Helped Brother Bennett do his chores. At 8:30 p.m. helt a cottage meeting. We all bore testimony to the truthfulness of the gospel. Retired at 11 p.m.
February 12, 1911 Sunday
Arose at 8:30 and had breakfast. Sang and talked all forenoon. Had dinner at 2 p.m. Elders Richards and Morris went to West Spring Crick with Lottie Manley, a daughter of Brother and Sister Bennetts. At 6 p.m, Elder Clark, myself , Bro and Sis Bennett and Alice went to Mr. Palmers to hold meeting. Elders Morris and Richards came at 8 p.m. We then sang and I opened. After meeting talked with Mr. Palmer until 1 o'clock in the morning. Had lunch after we returned to Brother Bennetts.

Had breakfast at 9 a.m. Then wrote up diary, while Sister Bennett sowed up my coat. Elder Richards and I then left for Corry. Arrrived at 12:30 a.m. Had lunch at Palm Restruant, then got laundry. Came to room and wrote to Rhoda and Mother. Sent Valentines to Reed and Lyle. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Spent the evening talking on the western country with Mr. Bowers and Mr. and Mrs. Young. Had breakfast at 8a.m., then wrote to Mr. and Mrs. Young, then to Elder Jensen, to George F. Prince and Preston. Then studied. It stormed all day, so as that we could not tract. At 2 p.m. I went to the store and got a dictionary, then studied the Bible until 6:30 p.m. at which time we had supper, then talked on the gospel with Mrs. Ward until bed time.

Washington's Birthday, and snowing, well I guess yes, and continued all day. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Elders Cook, and Wm o. Clark left for Allegheny at 9:10 a.m. by way of Meadville, New Castle and Butler. Elder Richards and I went to office. I bought a magazine then came to room and studied. Had bananas for dinner. Recieved card from Reed and Lyle saying all were well. Studied from the bible. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. then sang songs and studied. retired at 10:30 p.m.
February 23 1911 Thursday
Arose at 7:30 a.m. and at 8:00 a.m. had breakfast. Then studied until 10:00 a.m. Then went tracting. Was treated very nicely and on revisiting one house at 419 Second Avenue, was asked to eat dinner with them. It being the first time I was asked to eat by gentiles in the mission field. Of course, I accepted the invitation. On leaving, they asked me to call again and bring them a Book of Mormon, which I gladly promised to do. Came to room and studied. At 3 p.m. went out to Failes to visit them and see how she was feeling. Came to room and had supper at 6:30 p.m. then studied. Retired at 10 a.m. (that's what he wrote).

Arose at 7 a.m. Shaved, then had breakfast at 8 a.m. Wrote letter to Eastern States Mission. Sent off week reports, then got candy. then left Corry for Brother Bennett's at 9:45 a.m. We were two hours and five minutes going out. We found them all well. Had dinner at 1 p.m. We then went out in the woods to sing over a few songs and chop a few trees. We came back to room and pressed pants. Then sawed wood to do over Sunday. I had sick headache so retired early.

We were late arising. Had breakfast at 8:45 a.m. Then sang some songs. Had dinner at 2 p.m. Then studied. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Bennett came over in afternoon. We visited with them some. Had supper at 6:30, then helt meeting, Elder Richard's and I , it being over our first meeting
alone. Was it a sucess? You say. Retired at 10:30 p.m.

Arose early. Had breakfast at 7:30, then took a horse and drug in some wood for Borhter Bennett. Then saved it up. Had dinner at 12 a.m. and at 12:30 left for Corry. Arrived at 3 p.m. It snowed most all the way over. Went and got laundry, then came to room and got our mail. Recieved a letter from mother, one from the wife and little boys. Wrote to Rhoda. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then studied.

Had shave, then breakfast at 8 a.m. Studied until 12 a.m. It was snowing so hard we could not tract. Wrote a letter to Frank Kelsey, then went to office with it. Got some bread, bananas, sugar and cream. Then came to room. We had no dishes to eat with. We went back and got two tin cups and two spoons. We then ate our lunch. Went out tracting . Was only turned from one door. Came to room and wwrote diary at 6:30 p.m. We had supper, then went to Library to study. Came to room and retired at 11 p.m.

Storming hard. Had breakfast 8 a.m., then wrote to Antone. Recieved letter from COnf. Office. Went out to visit but found no one at home. It kept storming so we came to room and studied. At 12 we had lunch, then read from Bible, the Epistle of James. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then went to 183 Ridge St. to visit. Had a very nice time. Came to room and retired. Walked 2 miles.

Still snowing. Had breakfast at 8 a.m., then studied. Had crackers and salmon lunch. GOt mail, card from Elder Nelson, letter from Aunt Nancy and one from Rhoda. Wrote to Ma. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then studied until bed time. Walked 1 mile.

Sun shining today. Had shave, then breakfast at 8 a.m., then wrote to Rhoda. Also recieved a letter from her telling me of the death of Uncle Jake. (Only heard yesterday he was sick.) It was a surprise to me, as well as a shock, and a day to be long remembered by his loved ones and many friends. We went out tracting. At 10a.m. came to room and had bananas and cracker lunch. Then studied. Tracted again after noon. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Then went to Mr. Martin's to visit. Came to room and had bathe, then filled out report blanks. Walked 5 miles.
March 18, 1911 Saturday
Arose early and wrote letter to Conference Office. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Left for Brother Bennett's at 10:30 on Ankle Express. The snow was about 6 inches deep, which made it very hard work for the engines. After two and one half hours we arrived at our destination. We then ate dinner, sawed a little wood. Then shaved and pressed pants. Helt meeting at 6:30 p.m. Then had supper. Played dominoes, then retired. Walked 9 miles.
March 19, 1911 Sunday
We were late rising. Had breakfast at 9 a.m., then studied. Had dinner at twelve. Mrs. Manley, being there also after dinner. I washed the dishes and Alice wiped them. Elder Richards and Alice then went home with Mrs. Manley. Sister Bennett and I talked and studied on the gospel. Aupper at 6 p.m. Then helt a meeting. All bore testimony, then had feast on (Butter Nuts) the first I had ever seen. At 10:30 p.m., Jack and wife arrived. Retired at 11:40 p.m. Walked 1 mile.

The horn was blew at 7 a.m. We then had breakfast. I then dehorned a calf for Brother Bennett. Elder Richards and I then left for Corry. On arriving, found two letters from Rhoda and one from Grandma at room for me. Had cracker and bananna lunch, then wrote to wife and babies, also Lem(?)Redd. Had supper at 6:30 p.m. Then went to revival at Mathodist Church. Came to room and retired. Walked 10 miles.

The bell rang at 7:30, just as we were rolling out. I then washed handfercheifs, then had breakfast , shaved. Then tracted until 12. Came to room and had lunch of old things.Studied all afternoon, then at 6:30 , supper. Wrote up diary, then studied. Walked 2 miles.

Five months today since I was set apart for mission. Had breakfast at 8 a.m., then had shave and got ready to go to Titusville. Left Corry at 11:20 a.m. Arrived at 2 p.m. Went to Brother Wege's where we met him, his wife, and sister, Karanagh. Had lunch, then spent a very comfortable afternoon with them. Had supper early, then went to office with Borther Wege. Spent the evening talking. Walked 4 miles.
March 26, 1911 Sunday
Arose early and had breakfast. Went for a walk, came back, then helt meeting. I took charge, we all bore testimony. We had a nice meeting. Had dinner then went out to the old Drake Well. The first oil well ever drilled. The well where oil was discovered. Came back and had supper, talked and told stories. Brother Wege told of the (young Irishman sawing his fingers off). Had candy and oranges. Walked 7 miles.

April 3, 1911 Monday
Arose at 6, then had breakfast at 7:30. Babe and I left for Summet where she was going to take the train for Warren, Ohio. I then took the horse and buggy back to Spg. Creek. We had dinner at 1:30 p.m. Then ELder Richards and I left for Corry. The roads were very muddy. We got quite tired and very dirty, before we arrived at Corry. Breakfast at 7:30, then wrote to J.E. Eldrige and wrote up diary. Then studied. Rained all day. Went to Wright Jewelery Store to get my watch, also honed razor while there. Came to room and had lunch. Wrote to Elder Lee, then studied. At 6:30 had supper, then studied. Walked 2 miles.
April 5, 1911 Wednesday
Still raining. Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. then shaved. Got mail, a letter from Rhoda and mother. Then tracted. Came to room and had lunch. Studied and wrote to Clara. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then went to Sybrary Theatre. Came to room, wrote up diary. HAd bathe, then retired. Walked 1 mile.
April 6, 1911 Thursday
Breakfast at 7:30, then wrote to mother, then went out tracting. Came to room and had lunch. Afternoon went and visited Creamery, Bucket and Chair Factories. Had a nice time and saw some very nice machinery. Came to room and had supper, then went to Mr. Martins' to visit them. Then wrote to Sister Gietz. 4 miles.
April 7, 1911 Friday
Had bathe, then breakfast at 7:30. Then shaved and went out tracting. Had lunch at 1 p.m., then tracted again. Also visited the Fails family. Then studied. Supper at 6:30 , then wrote and studied. Walked 5 miles.
April 8, 1911 Saturday
Arose early and had breakfast. then wrote to Laurence. Then studied and tracted. Had llunch at 12:30. Studied until 2 p.m. Then went to Mrs. Gordon's to visit. Came tyo room and got reports and letters off to Conf and Mission Headquarters. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then studied until 10 p.m. . Then retired for the night to dream of home and loved ones. Walked 3 miles.
April 9, 1911 Sunday
On arising, found about 4 inches of snow which feel during the night. Had breakfast at 8:30, then studied all forenoon. At 12, took walk, came back to room and spent the remainder of afternoon studying. Had supper at 6 p.m. Had bathe and wrote to wife and children. Walked 1 mile.
April 10, 1911 Monday
Arose early and had shave. Breakfast at 7:30 a.m., then got mail. Four letters from mother. In them she told me that Rhoda was sick with puenmonia. The reason I had not heard from her (Rhoe) for a few days was she was not able to write. Also recieved Liahonas and Papers. Went out tracting. Had a very good day. Had bread and milk lunch. Both busted. Tracted again in afternoon. Also visited fish hatchery. Supper at 6:30, then studied. Walked 8 miles.

Breakfast at 7 a.m. Then studied and got mail. Letter from Clara. Then went out tracting. Came to room and had bananna lunch. then studied all afternoon. Had supper at 6:30, then wrote and read Bible until bed time. Walked 1 mile.

Very cloudy and cold. Breakfast at 7:15, then wrote to mother. then studied. Rained all day. Lunch at 12, then visited Mrs. Shafer. Came to room and studied. Supper at 6:30. Walked 1 mile.

Breakfast at 7:30, then got mail. Letter from grandma. Then went tracting. Had lunch at 1 p.m. Then studied until 2 p.m., then tracted again. Had supper at 6:30 p.m.. then went to Mr. Martin's to visit. Retired at 11 p.m. Walked 3 miles.

Raining today. Had breakfast at usual hour on time. Then studied all forenoon. Had lunch at 12. At 1:30, went tracting and revisiting. Came to room and had supper at 6:30 p.m. Then went to Mr. Demcott's to visit. 2 miles.
April 15, 1911 Saturday
Arose early and sent off reports to Conf and Mission house. Had breakfast at 7:30, then wrote to Rhoda. Sent also for tracts and Books of Mormon. At 9 a.m. left Corry for Brother Bennett's to hold meeting. Arrived in time for dinner, then chopped wood and tore down fence. Had early supper then played a game of dominos, then studied. 9 miles.
April 16, 1911 Sunday
Easter Sunday. Had breakfast at 8 a.m. Sang a few songs and talked on gospel. Had dinner at 1 p.m. Then helped Jack lift cow up and fix her in gallis. Studied, had supper at 7 a.m.(his words), then helt meeting, sang until bedtime. 1 mile

At 6:30 arose and had breakfast. Then sharpened ax. Went to Albert Bennett's to chop posts for him. In forenoon we cut 152. Had dinner at 12 a.m. Then sawed down tree for Brother Bennett in afternoon. Had supper early, then played games until bed time. 3 miles.
April 18, 1911 Tuesday
Arose at 7:30 a.m., then had breakfast at 8 a.m. Left for Corry. After two and half hours, arrived in Corry. On going to room, found a letter from mother , one from Sister Atkin, and two from Rhoda. The first ones from her in two weeks. She just getting over a case of pneumonia. Had lunch at 12, then wrote diary and studied. Had supper at 6:30, then wrote to wife and children. Walked 8 miles.
April 19, 1911 Wednesday
Breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Then got mail. Wrote to grandma. Then went tracting. Had bad day. Got twelve turn downs. Came to room and had lunch. In afternoon went to Mrs. Gordon's to visit. Had supper at 5:30, then went to Vaudevill, then studied. 1 mile.
April 20, 1911 Thursday
Very cloudy and raining. Had breakfast at 7:15, then studied. At 10, the weather looked better. We then went tracting. At 12 had lunch. In afternoon visited Brass Bed Factory, then came to room and studied. Had supper at 6:30 p.m., then went to Mr. Demcott's to visit. Spent a very nice evening. Also met a Mrs. Smith, his grandmother. Came to room and studied. 2 miles.

Raining hard this morning. Had breakfast at 7:30 , then studied all forenoon. Had lunch at 12 and then went out tracting. Had a nice turndown and talking to by an old lady, if she could be called a lady. Was called everything on earth but a gentleman. Came to room and studied. Had supper at 6:30, then studied u ntil 10 p.m. Retired. Walked 3 miles.

Very cold this morning. Had breakfast at 8 a.m., then washed dishes and fed calves. then studied. Jack and May arrived from their farm a 12, then had dinner, talked and sang songs. Then studied. Had supper at 7 p.m. Helped feed calves, then helt meeting. I took charge. We all bore testimony. Walked 1 mile.

Arose early, then turned cream seperator, then had breakfast. then sawed some shingle blocks. Brother Bennett then went after cows. Had dinner at 12 m, then helped lift up house. Then sawed some more blocks. Left for Corry at 4:45 p.m. Had nice walk. Supper at 6:45 p.m., then studied and wrote diary. Walked 10 miles.

A very nice day. Had breakfast at 7 a.m. then wrote Rhoda and got mail. then went out to South Corry to tract. Was out until 2:15 p.m. then had lunch and studied and slept all afternoon. Had supper at 6:30 Went to laundry and studied for a couple of hours. then retired. Walked 6 miles.

Atill very nice weather. Had breakfast at 7:10 a.m. then got mail, then tracted until noon. Had lunch at 12:30 a.m. then wrote and studied all afternoon. Had lunch at 6:30 p.m., then went to Lybrary Theatre to see dogs boxed and played tune with bells, turned summersalts and walsed. Went to room and studied. Walked 2 miles.

Had breakfast at 7:15 a.m., then studied. Got mail, letter from mission office. then went out north of Corry to tract. Had fairly good luck, but could sell no books. Arose at 5:15 a.m. Then studied until 7:30 , then had breakfast. Then wrote up diary and got mail. Letter from Conf office with instructions to commence country work. Also letter from wife and children. Spent the day visiting friends before leaving for country. Had lunch at 1 p.m. Then went to store and got comb and collars. Then visited Demcott's. Had supper at 7 p.m., then went to Mr. Martin's. then got grips packed to start. then retired. Walked 5 miles.

Arose at 5, then studied. At 7 had breakfast, then visited Mrs. Gordon. Then got mail, paper. Then left for Borther Bennett's at 9:25 a.m. Arrived at 11. Then had talk and dinner. At 12 chopped some wood and played a game of dominoes. At 4 p.m. went to Robert Bennett's after horse to go to Summit after grips. Elder Richards went. I went after cows with B Bennett. Helped milk, then had supper and visited. Walked 4 miles.

Arose early and filled out reports. Then wrote letter to COnf office, then wrote to wife and children. Had shave, then dinner. then Elder Richards and I went to Spring Creek to post letters. Rained very hard on way back. Wrote journal, then had supper at 6:30 p.m., then helped milk, then helt meeting. All bore testimony. Retired at 11 p.m. Walked 1 mile. During April, walked 123 miles.
May 1, 1911 Monday
Raining when we arose. Had breakfast at 8, then played game of dominoes. Washed our underclose, then chopped wood. Had dinner at 1 p.m. Then studied and pressed our close pants and coat. Then helped milk. Had lunch at 7, then studied until 10. Then retired to dream of home and loved ones. Walked 2 miles.

Still raining. Helped Brother Bennett milk. then sawed wood all forenoon. Had dinner at 1, then sawed shingle blocks, and studied. Had supper at 7, then studied until bed time. Walked 2 miles.

Very cold and windy. Had breakfast at 8, then filled our grips and left for the country. My first experience of country work. Went to Sportasburg and got banannas and crackers for lunch. then went on to Little Coolie, where we stayed over night at Hotel. Walked 16 miles.
May 4, 1911 Thursday
Were called to breakfast at 7. Then left on our way towards meadville, where we arrived at 1:30. Went to Brother Chicks, where we spent the afternoon in studying and playing the phonograph. Had supper at 6:30, then spent the evening visiting and studying. At 11 p.m. went with Brother chick to engin house to get his engin to start on trip. He being an engineer on Penn R. Road. Retired at 1:30 a.m. Walked 18 miles.
May 5, 1911 Friday
Had late breakfast, then at 10, left on our way towards Titusville. Very hot walking. Had dinner with Mr. Adam Shafer, R D 9, Meadville. Then walked on. Were turned down 6 times before we got a place to stay with Timothy Bogard RD 68 Gaysville. Spent a very enjoyable evening. Retired at 9:20. Walked 14 miles.
May 6, 1911 Saturday
Had breakfast at 6 a.m., then left on our way towards Titusville, tracting as we went. Arrived at Brother Weges at 12:30 and had dinner. Then visited all afternoon. In evening went to store and got apples. Retired early. Walked 14 miles.
May 7, 1911 Sunday
Being Sunday we laid in bed late. Went to office with Brother Wege, then studied. At 10:15 a.m we helt meeting. At 1 had dinner, then visited all afternoon. Had supper at 5 p.m, then studied. Retired at 9:45. Walked 2 miles.
May 8, 1911 Monday
Awoke from our peaceful slumbers at 7. After dressing and washing, had breakfast, then put up arbor for hops to run on. Elder Richards helped wash. I helped to do the ironing. Had dinner at 12m. Had nap then bathed. Went to store and got pair of barber shears and looked over town. Had suppewr at 6:30, then studied. Retired at 11 p.m. Walked 2 miles.
May 9, 1911 Tuesday
Were called at 6:30 a.m. and after breakfast, bade Brother and Sister Wege farewell, and left for the country. Took half a dozen apples with us, so did not ask for dinner. Tracted between Titusville and Petroleum Center. Had fair sucess. We then tracted on towards OIl City, where we stayed over night at American Hotel. Walked 14 miles.
May 10, 1911 Wednesday
Arose late. Went to jeweler and had glasses fixed. Then to restuerant and had breakfast, then left. Had pain in hip and could hardly walk. At Reno took car to Franklin. Stayed at American House. Walked 5 miles.
May 11, 1911 Thursday
Rolled out at 6:30 and had breakfast. Then walked out to South Franklin where Forepaugh and Sells Brothers Circus was unloading. Came back to Hotel and had shave, then got bananas for lunch, then went to see the big Circus Parade. And at 2 p.m. went to Circus. Had supper at Restuerant. Stayed at same hotel over night. Walked 4 miles.
May 12, 1911 Friday
Had early breakfast, then left on our way towards Coaltown. Tracted all day and had fair sucess. Sold three little books. Got our dinner at sotre in Clintonville. Tracted on again. In evening asked to stay at 4 places and were turned down at all. Being faint hearted and tired, we went to Hotel in Murrinsville. Retired early without supper. Walked 22 miles.
May 13, 1911 Saturday
Breakfast at 7:30, then tracted the couontry to Coalmont. Had fairly good sucess. Went to the home of Brother Stitt, where we found Elders Cook and Despain. Had dinner then had talk telling our past experiences. Wrote letter home, then had hair trim. Had supper at 7 p.m., then sang a few songs. Retired at 11 p.m. Walked 12 miles.
May 14, 1911 Sunday
Helped milk, then had breakfast. Studied and at 10:30 helt Sunday School. We all spoke, then wrote to Grandma. At 2:30 had dinner. Visited and studied until 8 p.m., when we helt meeting. Had large crowd and all spoke. Retired at 10. Walked 1 mile.
May 15, 1911 Monday
Arose early and had breakfast, then wrote diary. At 9 left for office, where we got mail. I read letter from Brother Wege. We then changed companions. Elder Cook and I tracted all day. Could not get dinner. Stayed overnight with Josiash Miller of Jamisonville. Were treated very cool, but got thru alive. Walked 12 miles.
May 16, 1911 Tuesday
Had breakfast at 6:30, then left on our way. Tracted all forenoon. Was picked up by auto and took to Butler. Had lunch in restruant. Went to Waverly Hotel where we spent three hours talking to Bro. Lynn. At 4 p.m., left on our way south, tracting. Tried to get to stay at 6 places, but could not get in. We then took street car at Mixon Formors, where we stayed overnight at Hotel. Retired at 12 p.m., without supper. Walked 18 miles.
May 17, 1911 Wednesday
Awoke very tired. Left hotel and went to Brother Jerome Glanceys where we had breakfast. We then wrote letters and our journals. Had supper at 7 p.m., and then went to office and got mail. Four letters from home. Two from Rhoda and one from Ma and Lawrence. Retired early. Walked 1 mile.
May 18, 1911 Thursday
At 7:30 had breakfast, then went to office and got papers. Then left for the country tracting north east. Had dinner at store by road side. Tracted afternoon to Sister Hutzleys, where we had supper and stayed overnight. Visited until 11, then retired. Walked 12 miles.
May 19, 1911 Friday
Arose early and had breakfast at 7. Played phonograph and talked. At 10, went to Mr. chrichlows to see how Pearl was. Had dinner there, then Elder Cook, Sister Crichlow, Pearl and I went to Sister Hutzleys. Wrote to Jas Russell and wrote up diary. Had supper at 6, then fed pigs, then studied. Retired at 9:30 o.m. Walked 4 miles.
May 20, 1911 Saturday
Had breakfast at 7, then sawed wood. Left at 10 for Stitchlows where we had dinner. Then at 2:30 , left for Hartzel, a distance of 5 miles. Took car there for Mars. Got mail, letter from Eastern States. We then went to Brother Glanceys and had supper, then visited. Retired at 11 p.m. Walked 6 miles.

Arose at 7:30 and had breakfast at 8. Then wrote letter to wife and baby boys, then studied. Took walk around town, then went to office and took mail. Had supper at 6 p.m. Then wrote diary. Retired at 9 p.m. Walked 1 mile.

Had breakfast at 7, then went to office with Liahonas. Talked until 10 a.m., then left for country. Tracted all day. Had no dinner. In afternoon rained hard. Stayed overnight with Thomas Crea, R 1, Mars. Had nice talk in evening. Retired at 10 p.m Walked 10 miles.
May 23, 1911 Tuesday
Arose at 5, had breakfast at 6a.m. , then started on our way. Tracted until 9 a.m., then had shave and bathe. We then tracted on. Tried 4 places for dinner before we succeded in finding a place with Mr. Henry Emerick. Had nice talk after dinner. Tracted in afternoon. In evening I asked Mr. Henry Amsler who who took us in and treated us the best kind. Retired 11 p.m. Walked 15 miles.
May 24, 1911 Wednesday
Had breakfast at 6:30, then had long talk on the gospel. We then rode to Swickly with Mr. Amsler. Had lunch at restuerant, then walked towards Pittsburg. Had rest and washed my feet in Allegheny river. Then wrote diary. Walked to Aveloin where we took car for Pittsburg. Got mail, four letters from Rhoda. Then had bath and went on the street to hold street meeting. Elders Jensen and Clark did the speaking. Came back to Childs Restuerant and had dish of ice cream, then went to office and retired. Walked 11 miles.
May 25, 1911 Thursday
Arose late and had shave. Then went to Costills to breakfast. Then took laundry to office. Went to Boggs and Buhl and got sute of clothes, then wrote to Rhoda and studied. Had dinner at Costills. Then went to Sister Redddigers to visit. then in evening had supper at Costills. Came to office and retired. Walked 4 miles.
May 26, 1911 Friday
Arose late. Had breakfast at Costills Restuerant, then went to Boggs and Buhl and had trousers fixed. Also to look at hats. Then went to dinner at Costills. Then went to roon and studied. then went to 1212 Esplanda St. to visit Mr. and Mrs. Foust. Then went to lybrary and had lunch. then retired. Walked 2 miles.
May 27, 1911 Saturday
Had breakfast at Costills, then helped Sister Costill wash the dishes and peal potatoes. Then took Pres. Clark's breakfast to him. Also met Elders Despain and Richards in park. Then went to Rosenburgs to get sute of clothes with Elder Despain. Then came back to park and studied. Had bath, then dinner at Costills. Went to office and changed shoes, then went to S.S. Pittsburg with Elder Moms. After sute came to office and got grips. Also told Pres. and Wm Clark good bye. Elder Cook and I then took car for Crookham. Then walked to Sister Akins. Had supper, then milked cows. Helped wash dishes. Retired at 11:45 p.m. Walked 5 miles.

Brandon read this to me and some of the kids last night. It is very interesting. I only wish that he would have shared his testimony in his journal. Everytime he said "I was asked to speak," or "I was asked to bear testimony," I was hoping to hear the words that he spoke. I hope later in the journal that he does this. It made me aware that I need to share my testimony in my journal.
I can't wait to read more! Thanks for taking the time to type his journal to share with us all.
