LAS VEGAS AND SALT LAKE CHRISTMAS TRIPS

The week before Christmas, John and I went to Las Vegas to see Paula and Rex. We had such a good time. We stayed for a few days and went shopping and drove around looking at Christmas lights. It is so fun and relaxing to go to the Kelseys. It snowed while we were there and it was so neat. We spent Christmas with them a few years ago, and it snowed then too. We came home on Thursday the 18th and there was quite a bit of snow in St. George too. So, we drove by the temple and took some photos of the snow on the temple and grounds. Then we came home and caught up on the laundry and packed our bags to go to Salt Lake to the Neil Diamond Concert on Friday. We left just before noon of Friday. We stopped at Kims and John and Mike went to the gun safe place and picked up our Christmas present that Kim had got for us a few weeks ago at their sale. Then we stopped at Hickory Kist in Spanish Fork and split a sandwich. By the time we checked into our motel in Sandy, it was a blizzard there. John and Sonja Black were just checking in too and so we grabbed Sonja and edged our way over to the Southtowne Mall to do some shopping and people watching. John Black wasn't feeling well, so he layed down while we went, to get rested up for the concert. We took Trax downtown to the Gateway Mall and met the Shoppmanns and Brandon and Janna at the Rumbie Grill for dinner. It was delicious and a good time was had by all. Then we walked back through the snow and in the back way to the Energy Solutions Arena. Our seats were on the first row above the floor and they were great seats (thanks to Brandon). The Monteers and Kent and Jean Peterson were there too and sat not far from us. The concert was wonderful even though Neil Diamond is older than we are (by 2-3 years), he is a great performer. He sang nonstop for a couple of hours with no opening act..........just him! On Saturday morning, we ate breakfast downstairs and John and Sonja came just as we were getting through and we visited with them for a while and then we left and went out to Brandon's to take their Christmas presents. We went to Parker's Jr. Jazz game and it was fun. We left Brandon's at 2 p.m. and stopped to see Gene and they wouldn't let us in because we were too late, so we went on down to Kim's and picked her and Kelsey up and switched cars with them. They kept our Honda and we brought their pick-up home because it had our gun safe in. Then Mike and Corbin brought the Honda down when they came on Christmas Eve.
This is what the freeway looked like as we were leaving Cedar for Vegas.
You may wonder what in the heck we were thinking..........
