Last Saturday, we took off on our annual Monroe Mountain, Koosharem ride. Those that went were: John and I, Rex, Paula and Jessika Kelsey, John and Sonja Black and Lynne and Keith Kirby. Last year when we went, we got into a blizzard and almost froze to death, so we decided to go a little earlier this year, in the hopes that the leaves would be turning. We left home at 7 a.m. and unloaded our machines by Marysvale at 9:30 a.m. It was 46 degrees when we left the truck. It was a beautiful day and got warmer as the day went on. When we got back to our truck at 6:30, it was 69 degrees. We rode over Monroe Mountain on a fantistic trail that was really fun and not as scary as it has been in the past. We had lunch at the Koosharem Cafe, where we met up with Kendall Stapley and his wife, Lorna. He has been there almost every time we have been over there. We laughed when we walked in the door and there he was again. We had a good visit with them. There weren't many leaves that had turned colors until we got on the Koosharem side of the mountain and then there were some quakies that had turned and were beautiful. Probably in about another couple of weeks, they will be just right. Other than Paula and Jessika and Keith getting lost for a short time, it was a wonderful day. Good food, thanks to John Black, good company and lots of fun. It was an 80 mile trip, except for Rex who went 91 miles because of looking for Paula when she was lost. By the time we got home, it was 10:15, because John had to shop for Hanksville when we got to Cedar. So I slept in the truck while he was shopping.
